    Shawnee Mission Islamic Education Center (SMIEC), home to Masjid Maryam, is an IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit registered in Kansas. Founded in 2010, the building was purchased in 2019 and opened for Jumu'ah in September 2020. SMIEC serves the religious and educational needs of Muslims in northcentral and western Johnson County, KS, offering weekend Islamic academy, counseling, and scholarship programs.
